#LabalabaReview : Difficulty finding good Mascaras? Here's a guide!

Hey, boos!

As the weather seems to be having the time of its life, we might as well dance to its tune and adjust accordingly.

The weather is HOT! I cannot stress this enough. It is HOT! Everywhere is hot, I just realised I have heat rashes. My skin is crying, the weather is angry, I am just tired. LOL! Ok, Ok Ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit but you understand.

For some people (like me) that have found applying makeup this season quite stressful, here's a tip to help us look a little bit presentable!

Mascaras!

See ehn, let me just say it changes your look by 92.3%. It's either you hustle for a great mascara that will do most of the work for you or you should just get semi-permanent lashes done.

I know some of my people will go "stating the obvious innit". I totally agree with you but you must also know that most people are still lost on what to do when it comes to makeup. Not everyone is as knowledgeable about it as you are.

So please bear with them.

Thank you.

As I was saying before that brief interruption, because of this amazing weather, your makeup might start looking funny before you get to your destination. You get extremely sweaty, dabbing your makeup might just not work for you and you end up being really frustrated with the makeup you spent so much time working on.

If you are getting out of an air conditioned house to an air conditioned car to an air conditioned office, I don't think you need to bother yourself about a lot of things.

Those on the other end of the spectrum that find themselves out a couple of times during the day should listen up!

Use just what you need!

  • Lipstick/Lipgloss
  • Eyeliner /Kajal
  • Mascara
  • Properly Groomed Brows
  • Lightweight Powder

Shikena!

There's no need to go all glam because your makeup will waste and you will break out because of clogged pores and you will be sad and I know I will not tell you sorry.

Anyway, I'd be talking about my favourite today - Mascaras: types and of course, how to apply.

Types of Wands

It's important to know what you want out of your mascara before you purchase. Always read what's written on it before you purchase (that's if you can't open it at the store) if you can open, however, use this picture guide to help you pick the right ones.

If you have short lashes, try a lengthening mascara.
If you have thin lashes, try a thickening mascara.
If you have straight lashes, try a curling mascara.
If you have all three, try a volumizing mascara.
Below are the Mascaras I've found to be really amazing- does the job you need without you stressing yourself. I am saying this because I have used some and I have seen some of them on other people and I felt it looked really good!

MaxFactor Clump Defy Extensions False Lash Effect:
Using the "wand guide above", you can see this is the curved wand for a fanned out effect on your lashes. It takes a moderate amount of product and is suitable for those with long straight lashes.

MaxFactor Voluptuous False Lash Effect:
This mascara, on the other hand, packs a huge amount of product on it to give the maximum full lash effect. It is available in two colors I believe - brown and black. Please check which it is before you purchase. To be quite frank, I thought I got the black! I got home and realised it was a deep brown shade. Really pretty nonetheless but I am kinda used to black because black is just bae! Can I hear an Amen?

Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express:
This is equally a volumizing mascara but from another brand. It packs on just the right amount of product you need BUT what I noticed is that you need to apply several coats to achieve the look you want.

Rimmel Glam Eyes "Day 2 Night":
Now, this baby right here has been with me for years! I find myself repurchasing! It is just a pocket-friendly mascara. Reason being that it's a 2-in-1! Yeah! You have two mascaras in one. One is for length and the other for volume. There are two different caps indicating which is which. The black cap gives you the appropriate length you need. Once you allow dry for a couple of seconds, you follow it up by applying the volumizing one with the pink cap. Trust me when I say this is just amazing!!!... I  believe it's my 2nd or 3rd tube? I just find myself searching for it every time!

Here are the steps from MaxFactor on the best way to apply Mascaras. I also had a post up earlier on how to "create" length on your lashes with mascaras:

  1. Place the wand at the base of the lashes.
  2. Look down and draw the brush up through the lashes
  3. Let it dry before you apply the second coat in order to create the desired level of volume/ intensity.

I have been advised to keep my posts short. That's what I am currently practicing. I really hope I am able to pass as much information as I want to you.

I really hope you understand what you've just read. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here for you.
  • With Love,
