#LabalabaReview: FigHealthStore's "Turmeric Blacksoap"

I have been hearing a lot about this product & decided to try it out!

As an organic product junkie, my hands were seriously itching to buy it and the bathroom seemed to be in agreement with the purchase. lol!

However, I must confess, I believe these questions must linger through one's mind when they hear or read about this product.

Is there more to this black soap?

How does it differ from other black soaps?

Why can't I just go to any random market to purchase black soap?

I think I know one reason though.

It's suitable for sensitive skin.

Nothing makes me feel better than a product that is amazing on the sensitive skin. Trust me, my skin goes from a 0 to 100 real quick when I use a "foreign" product on it. It becomes extremely dry and itches. Let's not even go to the sudden pimples saga.

I have tried quite a number of soaps on my skin and my reactions are usually different after first use. I mean, my skin dictates few days later if it's ok with it or not.

Upon using this product from FigHealthStore, I was expecting the usual reaction afterwards. 3 days later, nothing. 4 days later, nothing. I think it's safe to say I am in my 31st day and I still haven't reacted.

Normally, I would have waited till I had exhausted the whole jar before giving a review but I felt it necessary after a month of usage.

This soap is the truth!

This isn't any form of sponsorship that I have to say all the good stuff about a product. If something is good, I feel it's necessary to let people in on it.

So, there are two types.

You've got one without Coconut Oil/ Eggs and one with Coconut Oil/Eggs. While the former is N5000, the latter is N4500. I believe you have to refrigerate both in order for it to last longer.

I use the one with coconut oil and eggs.

You're usually advised to scoop the amount you need for a week and keep the rest back in the fridge to maintain the active ingredients.

This is what it looks like out of the fridge.

By the time you scoop some out, it melts due to room temperature and turns darker as shown below.

This should last me for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Please note that I have scooped out of the jar about four times. I gave my friend some of it as well. As you can see, the jar is pretty big.

I'd list out the ingredients used in making this...(I am not sure if there's a secret ingredient left out).

  • Pure Black Soap
  • Turmeric
  • Coconut Oil
  • Sesame Seed Oil
  • Vitamin E Oil
  • Jojoba Oil
  • GrapeSeed Oil
  • Honey
  • Eggs
  • Argan Oil

It lathers pretty well too. I took a pea size to demonstrate.

My advice to you, however, is that, If you react to coconut oil/eggs, request for the black soap without the ingredients.

  1. It's a great moisturising soap that clears your skin with consistent usage.
  2. It doesn't leave a slimy residue after a shower, rinses out nicely making your skin squeaky clean and fresh.
  3. If you can make it yourself at home and customise it to suit you, I believe that will work fine too.
  4. It states on the jar that it's a facemask, I'd highly advise against that, IT STINGS! It's better off as a face wash that you rinse out immediately.
  5. The price is slightly high for a product that the ingredients can be sourced for individually. It's a problem for me because I have most of these ingredients already so, I'd probably be making one myself in the future.

The question now is, will I be repurchasing this product when I run out?

My answer is maybe.

If I try to make it myself at home and it doesn't work, I might repurchase. Or if someone gets it for me, I'd gladly accept!...lol...don't judge me, if you don't like freebies, say I!...*looks left and right* No one? lol...I rest my case.

Here's their contact address in case you need to ask further questions about their product/purchase the product - They have a whole bunch of them, the Turmeric Black soap seems to be the "hit"!

Address: 20A Fola Osibo/Emma Abimbola Cole street, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos.
